Good, but I'm still lookingOct 14, 2008 The coffee is good, enough so that I finished the bag. It just seemed to me that it was a bit too burned . . . not so much as Starbucks, but more than enough for my tastebuds. I'll continue to trial the other blends by this producer.
Excellent, dark roast coffeeSep 02, 2008 If you like a big-flavored, dark roast...Altura organic is hard to beat.
I do a French Press every morning...I like it even more than Pete's. Took it to my brother, a discriminating cappuccino drinker...he has now switched to Altura's San Fran Blend.Even if the bag is marked Swiss process decaf on the side of the bag, it is definitely full-test!Confirmed by a call to Altura and the strong jolt I receive from one cup!
My only question is how does Amazon sell it for only $14.77 for 2 LBs and no shipping (On Subscription)..I just hope it lasts, because I am a huge fan.
Close, but no cigar...Aug 26, 2008 Well we finally "bit the bullet" and ordered a burr coffee grinder from Amazon. We decided to get some of this coffee to start out our home grinding experience. Yesterday morning, the mailman arrived with our package. We have brewed 4 pots so far.
First, no complaints about the caffeine. You can get quite a buzz on a couple of cups. And the beans are beautiful.
It is not bitter or acidic - it's nice & smooth. I was disappointed with the the almost total lack of the wonderful aroma noted by other reviewers, though. It just seems to lack any outstanding flavor or character. Tastes similar to many better grocery store blends I have used in the past. Although my wife liked it better than I did, when asked if she would buy it again - she said: "Probably not."
I'm not encouraged to try any of their other blends based on this experience. We will probably stick with Howe's, which is sold at our grocer. At least you can smell it before buying.
Maybe my expectations were just too high.
Simply delicious! Jul 07, 2008 Cafe Altura's San Francisco Blend is a delicious, dark blend. My boyfriend remarked just this morning that the aroma filling the air after I ground the beans was "just like GOOD coffee is supposed to smell." I like this variety second only to Cafe Altura's Biodynamic French Roast. They are both great... the french roast just has a bit more of a "pure" quality to it. Both are a great deal when purchased through Amazon's Subscribe and Save program!
Great coffeeJun 22, 2008 I like a deep roasted aromatic coffee that can stand up to a huge slosh of half and half. This one can. I'll buy again.
